Testimonials

I purchased a Christening gown for my son from Smocked Treasures in 2007. Being old fashioned, I wanted a gown for my son to wear. After searching the internet, I found Marianne's website. I fell in love with the Embroidered Cross Christening Gown and was amazed at how beautiful it was when I received it. Her work is wonderful! The slip underneath was embroidered with my son's name and his Christening date. It is truly a work of art. When my second son arrived, I contacted her to have his name added to the slip. For a VERY nominal fee, she did the extra work for me. She is one of the nicest people I have ever done business with. If you are looking for a gown that can be handed down for generations or even if you will just use it one time, this is the place to get it. Thank you Marianne for a beautiful gown, which my sons will hopefully want to use for their children.

Smocked Treasures was founded in 1995 by Marianne Schubbe, who does all of the custom sewing for the shop. I specialize in heirloom sewing for special occasions, including baby's christening, First Holy Communion, and weddings.

In 1998, I was chosen to be in a national TV commercial along with my daughters, Maria and Laura, advertising Berninas latest computerized "Artista" sewing machine. Magazine ads for Bernina's "Portrait of an Artist" campaign, featuring my daughters and I have appeared in Martha Stewart's "Living", Sew Beautiful, Creative Needle, Threads, Sew News and various other sewing magazines. I have created numerous original designs which have been published in Martha Pullen's Sew Beautiful magazine, including my daughters First Holy Communion dresses, my signature smocked baby bonnet, my family's personalized Christmas tree skirt, Magic Hanky infant bonnet and embroidered baby quilts. Most recently in November 2003, my boys christening ensemble with detachable gown was featured and in January 2004, the back cover original pattern design was my girls smocked and embroidered a-line dress for communion.

Each item created for Smocked Treasures is made using only the finest fabrics and laces with attention to detail. Custom touches, including personalization, make each item you purchase truly a family keepsake. If there are any questions or inquiries regarding any of the items or about the shop, please do not hesitate to contact me ~ I look forward to creating your families treasures!
