Testimonials

“Smocked Treasures” provided us with exactly what we were looking for: an exquisitely made and elegant baptismal ensemble for our little boy which will become a family heirloom. I found a number of sites that provided hand-made baptismal gowns, but kept re-visiting Smocked Treasures. It seemed to me that the available range was carefully selected to cater to many different tastes and I was impressed that Marianne offered so many hand-made choices so we could vary the design, ensuring a personalised service (which is a bonus for online purchases). I was delighted to search through the many designs on offer (a rare find for outlets offering boy’s outfits) -the only problem was deciding which one to purchase. Marianne responded promptly to my first email inquiry and I was immediately reassured by her warm, professional and thoughtful approach; I felt entirely comfortable with going ahead with the purchase. Marianne emails customers once an order is placed so that you have the opportunity to discuss any issues (eg for us, we needed to work out an “in-between” size); while Smocked Treasures is an online business, you can be assured of a personalised service. The final product was carefully packaged and the workmanship was of the highest standard. I can highly recommend Smocked Treasures to anyone who is looking for a special, outfit of high quality for their baby’s christening. Marianne’s creation for our little baby is absolutely beautiful.

About My Business

Flowers

Smocked Treasures was founded in 1995 by Marianne Schubbe, who does all of the custom sewing for the shop. I specialize in heirloom sewing for special occasions, including baby's christening, First Holy Communion, and weddings.

In 1998, I was chosen to be in a national TV commercial along with my daughters, Maria and Laura, advertising Berninas latest computerized "Artista" sewing machine. Magazine ads for Bernina's "Portrait of an Artist" campaign, featuring my daughters and I have appeared in Martha Stewart's "Living", Sew Beautiful, Creative Needle, Threads, Sew News and various other sewing magazines. I have created numerous original designs which have been published in Martha Pullen's Sew Beautiful magazine, including my daughters First Holy Communion dresses, my signature smocked baby bonnet, my family's personalized Christmas tree skirt, Magic Hanky infant bonnet and embroidered baby quilts. Most recently in November 2003, my boys christening ensemble with detachable gown was featured and in January 2004, the back cover original pattern design was my girls smocked and embroidered a-line dress for communion.

Each item created for Smocked Treasures is made using only the finest fabrics and laces with attention to detail. Custom touches, including personalization, make each item you purchase truly a family keepsake. If there are any questions or inquiries regarding any of the items or about the shop, please do not hesitate to contact me ~ I look forward to creating your families treasures!
